The Divergent Difference
Divergent Therapy Services was founded to create a therapeutic environment that allows therapists to fully utilize their skillsets to best serve their clients. We truly care about our therapists and clients and want to create a unique environment that allows everyone to thrive within their role. Therapists are able to choose their own schedules which allows them to accommodate each client’s needs on an individual basis. Clients’ support needs are carefully assessed and matched to the therapist that can best suit their needs.
We use neurodiversity affirming treatment approaches. This means that we use Natural Language Acquisition (NLA), sensory supports, and more to help each client reach their full potential. We recognize that everyone has a different style of learning, and we are here to fully support each person as a unique individual so they can truly succeed. A note from Abby, founder of Divergent Therapy Services
Hello!
I am so excited you have ventured onto our website to learn more about what we have to offer! Creating Divergent Therapy Services has truly been a privilege. I have dreamed of creating a space that supports therapists and clients alike to make dreams, aspirations, and goals a reality. As a senior in high school, I struggled with knowing exactly what career path I wanted to take. The one thing I knew for certain? I wanted to help others and truly make a difference. My mom once suggested speech pathology, and a few Google searches later, I was sold. Little did I know the personal and professional ups and downs that were to come. I ventured through those years learning more about myself and the field of speech pathology than I ever expected. Since completing my graduate studies, I have continued my journey in the speech pathology world while searching for my niche. I have discovered that there are many areas of this field that I truly love, but my passion resides in holistically treating my clients and supporting their families. I have big dreams for turning this space into a place where families can leave their biggest fears behind. I hope you’ll stick around as we advocate, educate, and positively touch as many lives as possible.
My why?
I truly believe that access to communication is a fundamental human right. Communication is the one thing that stands above all that truly allows us autonomy. Expressing our likes, dislikes, thoughts, opinions, and emotions is crucial to our mental health, education, and social interactions. We live in a world where we have access to high-tech communication devices that allow people of all abilities to communicate. We live amongst individuals who have advocated for people with communication deficits paving the path for acceptance. We’ve been gifted years of research that teach us how to instill the ability to communicate in our clients. I believe that each and every person has something to contribute to this community. Whether that be advocating for more accessibility supports in public spaces, becoming a therapist, smiling and being patient with those who have difficulty communicating, or simply believing that people with disabilities deserve the same respect, education, and rights as everyone else. It is up to each of us to continue paving the path towards a truly accepting and supporting world. I have dreamed of a space that would allow me to fully support clients and their families without limitations. I have brought that dream to life with the creation of Divergent Therapy Services.
